I've been practicing yoga for twenty-five years and continue to delight in discovering the benefits of the practice along with my students. I aim to cultivate a nurturing atmosphere of playful curiosity in my yoga classes. Employing a dynamic Vinyasa flow of asanas, we strengthen, lengthen, and undo our bodies, finding a bit of sweet inner quiet in the process.
My background as a professional ballet dancer led me to the freeing practice of yoga. Slipping outside of the pursuit of physical perfection for a more forgiving practice of inspired and inspiring movement has been a revelation. Challenging and unlocking my body and spirit through these ancient, lyrical poses has gifted me with an even more flexible body and mind. Finding the simple power of the breath has brought me both power and stillness.
My most powerful teachers have been Diane Avice du Buisson and Doug Keller, along with Angela Farmer, Stephanie Keach, Shala Worsley, Joe Taft, Libby Hensley, Janelle Railey, Katherine Correa, John Charping and Betty Larsen.
I completed my teacher training certifications through Asheville Yoga Center and realized my 500 hour certification specializing in Yoga Therapeutics. I am an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher through Yoga Alliance (E-RYT 500) with 10,000 teaching hours.
While I teach public classes each week, the majority of my time is spent in private practice working with clients individually, crafting highly personalized yoga sessions. Our work explores undoing habitual misalignments in body and mind, unlocking intuitive potential to move with ease, uncovering singular inner strength and wisdom in the process.
In my work as a yoga therapist, I offer in depth assessments and practices for bodies with special needs or challenges and often work with clients (yogis and non-yogis alike) recovering from injury or surgery.
I hope you might take a step into this profound practice and see what you discover for yourself. You will transform your body and quite possibly, your life.
